Section 9: Reporting & Analytics

Understand your salon's performance with comprehensive reports. This section covers the dashboard overview, revenue reports, staff performance tracking, customer analytics, accounts receivable, VAT/tax reporting, and payroll processing.

Tutorials in This Section

9.1 Understanding Your Dashboard

The dashboard gives you a quick overview of your salon's performance. Learn how to read the key metrics (appointments, revenue, customers, transactions), switch between time periods (today, week, month, custom), compare to previous periods, and understand the visual charts showing trends and staff performance.

Time: 10-15 minutes

9.2 Running Revenue Reports

The revenue report shows your daily income broken down by source. This tutorial explains how to view revenue by date, understand the breakdown (services, products, tips, tax), filter by date range, compare periods, and export data to Excel for accounting. Perfect for tracking financial performance.

Time: 10-15 minutes

9.3 Staff Performance and Commission Reports

See which team members are your top performers. Learn how to run staff performance reports, view revenue and commission by staff member, understand how commission is calculated on services and products, track appointment counts, and export data for payroll processing.

Time: 15-20 minutes

9.4 Customer Analytics - Top Customers and Retention

Know your best customers. This guide shows you how to run the top customers report, see who spends the most, track visit frequency, calculate average ticket size, monitor customer retention, and identify VIPs worth extra attention. Use this data to reward loyal customers and improve retention.

Time: 10-15 minutes

9.5 Accounts Receivable and Outstanding Balance Reports

Track money owed to your salon. Learn how to view the accounts receivable report, see which customers have unpaid balances, understand aging of debts, send payment reminders, and monitor collection rates. Essential for maintaining healthy cash flow.

Time: 10-15 minutes

9.6 Payroll Processing and Reports

Processing payroll? Luminate calculates commission and tracks hours. This guide covers running payroll reports, viewing base pay plus commission for each staff member, verifying calculations, approving payroll periods, finalizing payroll, and exporting data for your payroll provider.

Time: 20-25 minutes

9.7 Staff Hours Worked Report

Track how many hours your team is working. This report shows scheduled hours, actual hours worked, break time, and overtime for each staff member. Learn how to run the hours worked report, filter by date range, compare scheduled vs actual time, sort by different columns, and export data for payroll or compliance purposes.

Time: 10-15 minutes

9.8 VAT/Tax Report

Track tax collected on your transactions for compliance and tax returns. The VAT/Tax Report shows gross revenue, net revenue, and tax collected, grouped by day, month, or quarter. The report automatically uses your salon's tax label (VAT, GST, Sales Tax) based on your regional settings. Learn how to run the report, understand net sales vs gross sales, choose grouping options, and export data for your accountant. Essential for accurate tax submissions.

Time: 10-15 minutes

9.9 Revenue by Payment Type

Split your takings across Cash, Card, Gift Voucher, and Other payment methods. This report shows what you collected, what you refunded, the net amount, and each method's share of total revenue for any date range. Perfect for reconciling your card terminal against the till, comparing your card-vs-cash mix month-on-month, or spotting voucher redemption trends.

Time: 5-10 minutes

9.11 Staff Commission Report

See exactly what one staff member earned in commission over any date range — split into service and product commission, with an item-by-item breakdown for commission-only staff or a tier-progression table for salary-plus-commission staff. Unlike the Payroll report, this is commission-only: no base salary, hourly rate, or pay run, which is what lets Managers view it. Learn how to pick a staff member, read the compensation and override badges, understand why salary/hourly staff show no commission, and that tips are context-only and refunds don't count. The per-staff drill-down companion to Staff Performance — ideal for one-to-ones and performance reviews.

Time: 10-15 minutes

9.12 Colour Stock & Reorder Report

Your colour-bar order sheet. This report lists gram-tracked colour products grouped by brand and product line, showing live stock on hand, full tubes, stock value, usage velocity, and a derived days-to-stockout so the most urgent shades sit at the top. Learn how to use the runtime low-stock threshold to flag low and out-of-stock shades, read the reorder worklist, export a supplier-order CSV, and what "days left is approximate" means. Operations, not analysis — for colour margin and revenue, use the Colour Bar Performance report.

Time: 10-15 minutes
